WhatsApp down in India, users unable to send and receive messages

WhatsApp appears to be down for several users in India. Many users have raised issues on Twitter,

while members of the India Today Tech team are also unable to use the messaging app

At the time of writing this article, most users could open the app but were not able to send messages and media files.

Naturally, users aren't able to use other services, such as WhatsApp audio and video call.

At the time of writing this article, over 2,000 users reported issues with the app on the website.

Around 9 per cent of users are facing other unknown issues with the smartphone app.

The exact cause of the WhatsApp outage remains unclear. Other Meta-owned services, such as Instagram and Facebook are working fine in India
